EVENTS | Highlights of QC Pride 2024 - From March to Cancellation Due to Rain

QC Pride 2024 Highlights of Events

Here's a quick rundown of this year's QC Pride: From the long marching lanes of people showing support for various causes and social issues, to the heavy downpour that caused the cancellation of the concert, to the ruckus caused by those who came only to see BINI, this year’s event was certainly more colorful, albeit wet.

The QC local government closed major roads in the city to accommodate the hundreds of LGBTQIA+ supporters and allies marching together.

Vice Ganda Scales ABS-CBN Fence to Greet QC Pride Marchers, Shares Heartfelt Message After Concert Cancellation

Vice Ganda climbed the fence of ABS-CBN to greet the marchers, wearing a skirt. She was scheduled to perform at the concert later in the day, but due to the weather, it was cancelled. Despite this, she shared a video message, reminding everyone to take care while heading home.
She also released a powerful editorial photo wearing flags of countries that still criminalize homosexuality, delivering a timely and challenging message.

Divine Divas Dance to "Salamin" by BINI: Filipino Drag Icons Champion LGBTQIA+ Visibility

Filipino drag superstars, the Divine Divas—Precious Paula Nicole, Vinas Deluxe, and Brigiding—were spotted dancing to the tune of "Salamin" by BINI. These drag queens, along with many other drag artists, have been instrumental in advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights and increasing the community's visibility through both traditional and online media. Pop culture undeniably serves as a powerful platform for advancing gay rights.

Upholding Love Over Hate: Standing Strong Against Homophobia

Occasionally, we encounter homophobic individuals who condemn gay people as if it were their personal concern. These critics often voice their disapproval loudly, attempting to impose their narrow-minded views on others. However, it's important to remember that love and acceptance should prevail over prejudice and intolerance. The LGBTQIA+ community continues to thrive and gain support, proving that respect and equality are far more powerful than hate. Preach darling!

Rain Can't Dampen Spirit: Resilience and Solidarity at QC Pride

The weather has not been kind this year. A heavy downpour forced the organizers to pack up and cancel the remaining shows, as some of the equipment was already malfunctioning and, more importantly, people were completely soaked. Despite their best efforts to continue, the safety and comfort of the attendees had to take priority. While the rain dampened the festivities, it did not dampen the spirit of the community, who came together to celebrate and support each other, demonstrating resilience and solidarity even in the face of adverse conditions.

Embracing Pride: Celebrating Sass, Style, and Unapologetic Confidence

But wait, since you've reached this point, here’s a treat: Pride wouldn’t be complete without the sass and flair of the LGBTQIA+ community. One of the highlights of the event is the unapologetic confidence and style on display. What better way to flaunt sexy than to do it while marching for a cause? The vibrant outfits, bold makeup, and fierce attitudes not only make a statement but also celebrate the freedom to express one’s true self. This dazzling display of individuality and pride is a reminder that being sexy is not just about appearance, but about owning who you are with confidence and joy.

Whether you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally, there is always space for everyone. Granting basic human rights to gay people does not take away rights from others; it simply ensures equality and justice for all. Our world is a beautiful place, enriched by its diversity, and it is our hope that one day we can all share it equally, without discrimination or prejudice. Embracing love, acceptance, and respect for one another will lead us to a more harmonious and inclusive future, where every individual can thrive and be celebrated for who they are.
