Wonder Woman 1984 - Trailer

Wonder Woman 1984 - Trailer

The official trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 (the second film after the successful debut of the first) is out, and boy what a treat it is for all fans out there. The vivid colors speaks volume of how awesome this may get. Of course, we are expecting nothing but the best from Patti Jenkins after she proved how WW can rock any day of the week.

The stunning visuals of the trailer warping us back to 1980s instantly pique our memory lane considering that it is arguably Linda Carter in the said 80's era who defined Wonder Woman for us and now Gal Gadot, a character that embodies the same spirit of the Amazon princess - but with more grit and better acting. This can never get any better than that. As if the excitement is already over, the hyped 80's beat accompanying the trailer is also too head bopping. Difficult not to get hooked up.

Here's the Wonder Woman 1984 clip,

A few things that I expect to see in the film,

The villain holding what appears to be an artifact

I didn't really wanna spoil much about the movie's plot so I avoided looking up more info about this man; but the trailer has his voiceover talking about seizing a better life. What that part showing him as if a funnel of wind, means is totally unknown.

Cheetah as the main villainess

We do know that this Cheetah is a doctor who has the power to transform into the animal; will be the main opponent of Diana. I just hope she is a worthy one.

WW with her golden armor

You know how in the comic narrative of WW, she gets gifts from the gods like her bracelets from Aphrodite, sword from Athena and lasso from Hestia; the golden armor might be another gift from the gods? And remember she will also receive the gift to fly - will it be in this movie?

The lasso of truth can ride lightning, like seriously

I was blown away by the fact that the lasso can be used to hold on to lightnings. Since when did she do that? Crazy, right.

And how did Trevor manage to come back to 1984 (I smell time travelling plot)

Well we all know Trevor would never have survived that suicide mission; so why is he alive all of a sudden. Was the watch a time travel device?

And I don't hear any further news about another Justice League in the pipeline but if anything, I hope to see some potential build up to other DC characters.

I know this is a super far fetched idea, but I wish DC would invest more on other DC characters like Hawk Girl, Shazam or the dark DC Universe like John Constantine and Zatanna. It's just that ever since Superman and Batman monopolized the blockbuster arena, the other less popular characters became mere flowers on the wall. And I think that is too unfair. Superman and Batman are already a staple and people are now fed up with them.

They also should stop their fetish on placing a dark tone on DC movies like what they did with Superman (of Henry Cavill) and Batman (of Ben Affleck), all thanks to Zack Snyder.

By far, only Patti Jenkins (Wonder Woman) and James Wan (Aquaman) seem to understand the formula that works. This is a superhero movie and we want to immerse in a world that sheds light and hope; sprinkled with light humor and romance - as universal themes that we understand. Zack Snyder is a perfectly talented director as he is, but the medium does not fit in his craft. Maybe he can take a queue from Joker (directed by Todd Phillips).

So, back to Wonder Woman 1984. I am really excited to see her again in theater soon. It is also a huge service to the people of the World since what we need now is hope in the middle of this pandemic. Wonder Woman hopefully can deliver that message of hope to everyone to keep being optimistic and kind no matter what battle we may encounter.

Wonder Woman 1984 comes out in July/August 2020.
