Crowne Plaza Muscat - Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre

2018 ushers in the openings of many a number of hotel properties in Oman. This, along with the operation of the new Muscat Airport promises to boost the tourism sector in the country. In fact, the growth of visitors has already doubled since the first quarter of this year. In this edition of Expat In The City, we take a look at the newly built hotel of Crowne Plaza Muscat - Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. The hotel is strategically located close to the convention centre and is only 10-minutes away from the new airport, making it one hotel to be sought after in the next few months.

How to get there: 

From November 18 road, drive ahead approaching the bridge (in front of Al Mouj Golf) and keep right (do not go to the bridge); drive under the bridge heading left and keep driving ahead until the next traffic signal. Take the left and drive ahead, in a few meters stay on the right until you see the sign that says "Oman Convention and Exhibition Center"; turn to right and drive ahead until reaching the traffic signal. Make a U-Turn and take the service road.

The Suite

The Suite category features a king size bed, equipped with touch button controls for the lights and airconditioning. Plus, there are Suites which are noise-free, perfect for guests who wish to have a good night sleep. They also have a guaranteed wake up call, which if anyone from the reception miss will give the guest a free night stay.

The Superior Room also has a King Size bed type with work desk inside the room.

Swimming Pool

The pool is accessible to hotel and walk in guests. Albeit small, it offers a tranquil view of the bird sanctuary which is visited by a number of bird species during high season.

What I like about this hotel is that it has some flair on art pieces and decors. The whole building is adorned by works of art that captures the essence of the Omani culture and way of living e.g. the pottery from the breakfast hall, the paintings of Omani traditions, etc. The property itself gives the guest a unique Omani experience.

Charm Thai - Restaurant

I have singled out this restaurant because it deserves to have a spotlight of its own. This restaurant is a work of art by itself and the interiors have been meticulously chosen for the place. Guests are transported onto Thai vibes upon entering the vicinity. Each piece of furniture surely gives an authentic Thai dining. Although I haven't tried the food, but hopefully it is equally deserving of accolade.
