2. Have a good place to study, free from distractions.
3. Have the needed equipment on hand before you start. Include a dictionary.
4. Plunge right in. Concentrate. Attack difficult assignments first.
5. Look over the lesson to get the general idea of what is required.
6. Notice the organization of the material - chapter readings, section headings, and paragraph headings. If there is a summary at the end of the chapter, read it with particular care.
7. Notice what specific dates, terms, rules, and formulas you must learn. Memorize if necessary.
8. Pay special attention to information in italic and boldface type.
9. Look up unfamiliar words in the dictionary.
10. Take brief notes on the important points of the lesson. Make a note of questions you want to ask.
11. When you have finished, close your book and think over what you have studied.
12. Stop every half hour and exercise for a few minutes to rest your eyes and mind.
13. Plan your work sensibly, so that you do not leave it all to be done late in the evening. Do as much work as you can in the study room.
14. Use the library often.
