Call Me Tsundoku

I have this habit of going to the thrift book shop and rummage through interesting books. I don't usually have budget to spend on expensive paper backs. I either borrow or just go to the nearest library.In SM shops, there is a store called "Booksale" that sells previously owned books and I became fond of visiting the shop whenever I pass by. Today was no exception, and I got myself some cool French books.

Synopsis: Perfume, sauce, Chirac, the Eiffel Tower, dressage, the bidet and the accordion are just some of their targets. You will also read of Napoleon's secret Cognac bar, the French Navy's glorious history, EuroDisney and the ludicrous French aristocracy.

Marco Polo, Colomb, Magellan, Bougainville, Livingstone, Charcot, Roald Amundsen... Des noms qui claquent comme des voiles au vent, nous evoquant la Chine, l'Amerique, l'Afrique, l'immensite de l'Ocean ou la grandeur du desert. Des noms qui riment avec decouvertes, voyages, aventures et dangers. Des noms glorieux, si glorieux qu'ils en sont presque devenue mythiques, meme si nous ne savons souvent que peu de choses de ceux qui les portaient.

What is it about French that captures my attention? Perhaps it's the fact that I have this strong desire to master the language, but not giving enough effort to achieve my goal. I know it's wrong; I know I can't be baying for the moon waiting for things to happen by itself. But it's just not that easy. But as they say, if there's a will there's a way. So I just got to start somewhere.

Well to be honest, I don't read them all (well not at the same time). I guess that makes me a compulsive book buyer. The Japanese calls it "tsundoku", a term that refers to people who buy books and just let pile up. But what can I do? I just love seeing books in my shelf. But seriously, I truly put an effort in reading through these items. I always enjoy them.
