Canon Legria HF R36 Video Camera

Disclaimer: I won't claim so much as an expert for product reviews, especially electronic gadgets and most of the information I'm sharing were culled up from the Internet. Sole purpose of this review is to answer some unpopular questions.

When you connect the camcorder to an external monitor for recording or playback, use the terminal on the camcorder that matches the one you wish to use on the monitor. Then, select the video signal output configuration. The camcorder will automatically switch between the AV OUT and HDMI OUT terminals based on the external connection.

PAL vs NTSC

Designed for PAL TV and HDTV systems in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and South America – the black Canon 8GB LEGRIA HF R36 HD Camcorder with WiFi records up to 1920 x 1080 high def video directly onto an 8GB internal memory or an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card. The camcorder supports up to 64GB cards, which makes it possible to record for several hours without changing cards. The HF R36’s 1/4.85″ CMOS image sensor and DIGIC DV III image processor work together to provide detailed, life-like images. The HF R36 also employs a Canon HD video lens, Intelligent IS optical image stabilization and a 3″ LCD touch screen display, among other features.


Designed for everyone from beginners to advanced users, the HF R36 also features a headphone jack, which makes it easier to dial in optimal audio settings to match your Full HD video. Plus, with 51x Advanced zoom, you can capture all the detail even when shooting far away subjects. The HF R36 has several shot enhancing features as well. These include Face Detection, Story Creator, Touch Decoration and Cinema-Look Filters. Story Creator allows you to effortlessly create memorable short videos with a story. There are themes to choose from, as well as built-in scene suggestions. Cinema-Look Filters and Touch Decoration let you add fun effects to your movies without a PC. These features, combined with the Canon lens and CMOS sensor, give you the tools you need to get the shot you want.

Note: There are available converters for PAL into NTSC.


Battery Life

Under the AVCHD mode, the camera can last for approx. 60 minutes in non-stop recording. This can be extended if you go to the MP4 mode (but quality to go significantly lower).


RCA Terminal for Analog TV

Canon Legria uses a 3.5 mm minijack TSR connector type (for analog devices) using the RCA cables.

Note: Just make sure  that the setting is set to the AV/Headphones in order to achieve desired results.

IMPORTANT

• Be sure to turn off the camcorder and the external monitor when making the connections.
