MOVIE REVIEW | Brooklyn (2015)

Brooklyn (2015)

Did I like the film? I'd say yes, but it would have been more compelling as an Oscars nominee if it had a different ending rather than the lead actors having a happy ending. Because in real life, there is no happy ending.

Brooklyn is a film that deals with somewhat ideal sort of love... choosing the one you love, rather than being practical. But take away the love story, the film captures the intricate struggle of immigrants in the USA e.g. Irish and Italians (which by the way led to the Gangsters of New York and Mafia). This diaspora reflected a lot about Filipinos' current scenario, whereas Irish are to the USA, Pinoys are to the Middle East.
