In this series, I would like to discuss some really interesting idiomatic expressions I have heard at least once in my professional career.


I will start this series with an expression I once heard from my American boss while discussing about a project, which made him really frustrated because a lot of issues have been unresolved.

Idiom #1: Throw the baby out with the bath water

Meaning- Throw out the baby with the bath water is an idiomatic expression and a concept used to suggest an avoidable error in which something good is eliminated when trying to get rid of something bad, or in other words, rejecting the essential along with the inessential (source: Wikipedia)

Sample- Two friends are talking about making changes to a personal website. 

A: I'm going to make some changes to my website soon. 
B: Oh really? What kind of changes? You're still going to keep the old pages, aren't you? 
A: Yes, of course. The old pages will still be on the site. 
B: Oh, good. I don't want you to throw the baby out with the bathwater
