SPA REVIEW | (Defunct) Amistad Spa in Quezon Avenue

Amistad Spa

Amistad Spa is located along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City. The location itself is not so easy to spot if you have some trouble figuring out small signs on the road, especially at night. If you're coming from Diliman area, it will be on your right. If you're from Manila area, it will be on the left. But they will transfer to Tomas Morato quite soon. Details of the complete address has not been disclosed as of this writing.

The architectural style embraces a modern aesthetic, prominently featuring a red motif on the building facade. This choice of color could be interpreted as symbolizing passion and desire, creating an alluring ambiance in a spa setting. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a wooden door leading to a modest reception area where one can inquire about the range of services available, priced from PhP750 to PhP2,000.

The interior of the spa is designed to accommodate a limited number of guests, with a capacity of 3 to 4 people at a time, suggesting a focus on personalized attention rather than catering to larger crowds.

Upon selecting a service, guests are guided through a narrow hallway and stairs, passing rooms concealed by curtains. For male patrons accessing the VIP area, entry is straightforward, revealing a mirror and adjacent lockers.

However, the design of the locker room may warrant reconsideration by management. The cramped space lacks seating, potentially causing discomfort for individuals, especially those sensitive to confined spaces.

The shower room experience leaves much to be desired, with dirty, torn, or missing curtains and insufficient water pressure. The absence of soap or shower amenities contributes to a disappointing aspect of the facility.

Notably, the spa only offers a steam room, omitting a sauna from its amenities. The individual massage rooms, separated by thin wooden boards and curtains, may result in audible disturbances from adjacent sessions, including sounds of movement, whispers, and bed creaks.

While the massage therapists exhibit skill in applying considerable pressure, the overall experience falls short of expectations. The routine lacks a certain flair, and the stretching component is notably below par.

In conclusion, based on the described observations, it is my inclination not to recommend Amistad Spa. It might be prudent to await the opening of their new location to assess whether any improvements have been made to address the highlighted concerns.
